LIGHT CHASERS COMMUNITY GUIDELINES

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

POSTING PHOTOS. To maximize learning in our group, please include the following information. Posts that don’t follow the guidelines will be removed within two days.

>>> 1. DESCRIPTION OR STORY
At minimum, share the general location. Better yet, share details to let others appreciate or learn from your experience or process. Details can include why you pursued the shot and what you did to capture it. Did you have any technical, logistical, or creative challenges? Did you hike 10 miles and wade chest deep in the water to get that perfect composition?

>>> 2. IMAGE TYPE
The categories are Single, Blended, Stacked, Panorama, and Composite.

• SINGLE is one image — a single exposure.

• BLEND is multiple shots but in the same tripod position and at the same focal length. Exposure blending, HDR, and focus stacking for better depth of field belong here.

• STACKED is multiple images for noise reduction. Images are taken from same tripod location with the same settings and composition. Most useful in astrophotography.

• PANORAMA stitching multiple photos to create a wide view, most often with landscapes. The images have to be shot at the same location. Photos across multiple days and stitched as a panorama is a COMPOSITE.

• COMPOSITE is two or more completely different photos creating a new image. For example, you can create a composite out of the Milky Way over a city skyline image by taking the Milky Way image from the desert and the skyline image from the city. The difference between this and BLEND is that BLEND has to be images from the same tripod position, while this can be any two or photos from anywhere. Composites include photo illustrations that use heavy filters and effects, such as mirroring and sky replacement.

>>> 3. TECHNICAL DETAILS
Include your EXIF data and gear: Camera / Lens / f stop / Shutter Speed / ISO

We encourage sharing of technical details that others can learn from. For example, why did you use a 10 stop ND filter? Or an off-camera flash with a modifier instead of just ambient light? If you went beyond moderate adjustments in Lightroom/Photoshop, or used any special post-processing software or techniques, note it. For example, did you color-grade the image? Apply frequency separation? Use HDR software to expand dynamic range?

>>> 4. SOCIAL (optional)
You can provide a link to your Facebook page, Instagram account, or website.

• No more than three posts per day, per person. Post only your original work, unless it’s an informational post or a question.

Exceptions are casual group and event photos from Light Chasers gatherings and workshops, or posts approved by an Admin.

• Give constructive criticism only if requested by the original photographer, indicated by “CC.” Keep comments positive and supportive in nature.

• Please be mature, kind, constructive, and family-friendly in all discussions. Posts and comments that don’t comply may be deleted, and members may be removed without warning.

• Don’t block the Admins.
