Latchkey Brewery Exhibition: Rising Tide

Rising Tide

By Lois Fong-Sakai

In life and nature, there is ebb and tide, waters continuously going up and down, coming and going. Although the extremes may be a lot, in the end, everything balances out, in a ying and yang kind of way.

I love the motion of water and find it to be soothing, and enjoy photographing it. However, the reality is that I’m terrified of slipping on algae and wet rocks, and hurting myself or my camera gear. So, I always wear knee-high rubber boots when I go to the beach. On this evening in late March, the tide was rising much more quickly than I anticipated. And shortly after taking this photograph, the incoming tide came up to my knees, spilling into my boots. As happy as I am to have gotten a photo with great motion, I immediately moved to higher ground! Enjoy!
