Wizard Tree

By Margot Kelley

I spent a few months researching Crater Lake in anticipation of a birthday camping trip which fell on the new moon.  Once we arrived and began scouting the rim, we were met with closed roads, hailstorms, and fire danger.  Luckily, one night the construction stopped, the skies cleared, and we were able to shoot this old wizened tree, watching over the caldera against the galaxy.

ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHER

I am a photographer based in Portland, Oregon. Photography, for me, is a dedication to the art of seeing, and to capturing the play between light and shadow. I see my work as a study in the recovery and discovery of the natural world, and of the environments around me.
